Explicitness: The Unspoken Mandate of Feminist Social Work

Marta Lundy

Feminist social work consists of the complementary elements of feminist theory and therapy and social work values and principles, producing an explicit clinical framework that is relevant for social workers. This article describes and applies feminist social work in four major components of therapy: (1) the therapeutic relationship, (2) the definition of problems and the identification of goals, (3) the generation of solutions, and (4) the evaluation of practice. A case example illustrates feminist social work with intrafamilial sexual abuse.
