Coping with Multiple Roles: Family Configuration and the Need for Workplace Services

Christine Marlow

The study reported here investigated the impact of family configura tion on women clerical workers'ability to cope with multiple roles and on their need for workplace services. The women with children had more problems coping with their work and family lives than did the childless women, but there were few differences between the single and married mothers' ability to cope and need for services or in the need for services expressed by women in all family configurations.
