Social Policy on Women Prisoners: A Historical Analysis

Nancy J. Harm

Although the number of female prisoners is increasing steadily, the criminal justice system still does not provide women with the same treatment of choice or options for training as it does male prisoners. Specific examples are drawn from research in Illinois to illustrate attitudes that shaped policies.
