Women, Violence, and Fear: One Community's Experience
This article summarizes the findings of a community-based survey of violence against 781 women in the Rochester, New York, area that was generated by a social action organization and used a participatory research model. The survey assessed the prevalence of violence, the types of situations that make women feel at risk, and how women both defend themselves against potential victimization and make behav ioral changes to avoid it.
